The result of these representations was that the three Officers in question were compulsorily retired at the end of the year.
I also succeeded in getting in arrears of revenues. Under the supervision exercised in certain directions, I was required to stop the system of misappropriations that had been going on for years.
I acted as Treasurer for four critical months and drew half salary. In view of these considerations, I request that I be absolved from pecuniary responsibility for the amount that was misappropriated during the time that I was acting.
